ごめん今「くま」という単語を聞くとこれが脳裏に浮かんでそこで思考が停止してしまう。
で、Kuma Warは、くまが「オレの歌を聞けー！」と演歌を歌いながら戦う新しいタイプのゲーム、ではない。

Kuma: War is a PC-based first person shooter that puts players in the frontlines of international conflict, deploying them into authentic re-creations of breaking news that are updated weekly via their broadband connections.
ようするに、その週におきた現実のニュースにしたがって更新されるFPSのようだ。新たな紛争などが発生すると、それを再現するミッションなどがネットごしに送られてくるのだろう。
We have a collection of decorated military veterans whose job it is to make sure the missions we put out are as realistic as possible (though we balance that realism out with the need to make a mission fun).
ちゃんとミリタリー方面からのチェックを入れて、現実性と楽しさのバランスを取っているのが特長だとうたっている。なかなか興味深い。
とりあえず日本人から見たときの、そのあまりにまぬけなフレーズにめげずに頑張ってほしい。
Q: What does “Kuma” mean?
A: It means a few different things in a few different languages, but if our high priced marketing monkey is to be believed, it doesn’t mean a whole lot to English-speaking folks. Thus, we’ve been given the opportunity to take this word and fashion it to be synonymous with “reality gaming.”
いや、「くま」= “reality gaming”っていう刷り込みを狙うのはやめてほしいな。まあこっちには強力な「演歌歌手になりたい宇宙くま」がいる。こっちもまけずに「くま」=“melodramatic Japanese song”という刷り込みを行うクマー！
